Pedestrian dies after being hit by car on M7

A YOUNG man was killed after being hit by a car while walking on a motorway in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The tragedy happened in Co. Kildare on the M7 motorway between junction 11 and junction 10 near Naas just after 4am.

The man, who was in his 20s was, pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the car were uninjured, according to gardaí.

Forensic investigat­ors attended the scene of the collision and the M7 was closed to northbound traffic between the two junctions for much of yesterday.

Gardaí have asked witnesses to come forward, saying they were ‘particular­ly appealing to motorists who may have stopped at the scene prior to the arrival of gardaí and emergency services’.
