Will Smith gained 35lb of muscle mass to play heavyweigh­t champion boxer Muhammad Ali in this biopic and was nominated for an Oscar. The film focuses on the period from 1964 to 1974 and is no fawning tribute but a serious piece of work that gets under the skin of the man and really packs a punch. Thursday, 9pm, BBC4
