SCANDALOUS LIVES OF ACTORS AND AGENTS

There was a huge build-up to the release of this British version of the French comedy Call My Agent! (Netflix), but it divided critics. Comparison is the thief of joy, though, and taken at one remove from all the hysteria around its launch in April, this comedy is a steady source of laughs, small, heartfelt moments and enjoyably scandalous showbiz moments. For those unfamiliar with the premise, Ten Percent is like W1A but it’s about actors and their agents. Jack Davenport (above right, with Maggie Steed and Prasanna Puwanarajah) plays Jonathan Nightingale, the main agent we follow but what gives this show its unique fizz is all the celebrity cameos. Helena Bonham Carter, Dominic West, The Crown’s Emma Corrin and many more stars pop up suffering moments of crisis — and, to add intrigue for us, all the showbiz horror stories here are based on real tales.
