Madigan under fire over strange tweet
JUNIOR Minister Josepha Madigan has come under fire over a bizarre tweet she posted shortly after news of the Creeslough tragedy emerged on Friday evening.
The Dublin Rathdown Fine
Gael TD wrote: ‘One hopes this isn’t deliberate, but it is yet to be clarified! I hope no-one is injured and they find the culprits.’
The tweet was deleted but it still provoked fury internally within Fine Gael and on Twitter.
One senior Fine Gael figure told the Irish Mail on Sunday: ‘She was told to get that down fast. It was utterly insensitive.
‘There is a real question of judgment here. She describes herself as an award-winning lawyer and then does this.’
Ms Madigan replaced her original tweet with a retweet of Dublin Fire Brigade’s post saying how their, ‘thoughts are very much with the community of #Creeslough after the tragic events of today. We’re also thinking of the first responders from all services that are working at the scene #Donegal.’
Trade unionist Brendan Ogle tweeted: ‘You should be apologising to families and the community for your agenda laden original tweet. When a community was hit by awful tragedy.’
