The Coronas

Time Stopped 3ú Records,

Out now ★★★★★

In a career spanning almost 20 years, The Coronas have progressed from an indie guitar band to one that makes soft-edged middle-of-the-road music.

They can still headline sizeable outdoor shows and drew a large crowd for their set at September’s Electric Picnic during which Mary Black, mother of lead singer Danny O’Reilly, appeared with the band on stage. She doesn’t

guest here, but sister Róisín O’s harmonies feature on Write Our Own Soundtrack and Karma and others to good effect. The songs

written during lockdown in Dingle

(Don’t Say You’re In Love, Blessed To Call You My Own, If You Let Me) by the 37 year old frontman reflect on relationships of all kinds and speak of resilience in the face of trauma and adversity prompted by the pandemic (Strive, Time Stopped). Fans who have remained with them throughout their career journey will find little to dislike here.
