When a long-lost ocean liner is spotted floating adrift in the Bering Sea, the crew of a tugboat get a whiff of salvage and head off to claim the ship for themselves. But nothing goes to plan and they soon find themselves trapped onboard as an evil presence begins toying with them and the boat’s dark history is chillingly revealed. Not a movie to watch before heading off on a cruise, Ghost Ship is a proper horror story with a finish that will stay with you long after the film itself has sailed into the sunset. What’s it like growing up as twin sisters in small town North America? Canadian pop duo Tegan and Sara Quin wrote their own memoir about the trials and tribulations of twindom and highschool life back in 2019 and now it’s been turned into an understated and defiantly indiefeeling eight-part drama featuring social media stars Railey and Seazynn Gilliland as the twins (above), with the always great Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) as their mum and the inimitable Kyle Bornheimer (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as their dad. There’s a bleakness and a fragile delicacy of touch here that forms a nice contrast to most boisterous coming-of-age dramas, and it’s all the more refreshing for that.

LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER CONCLUSION OF NEW TOLKIEN TALE
This series has been a visual feast from the start but it’s only as we reach the end game, with the finale on Friday, that all the pieces come together. It’s been worth the wait to find out what will happen to the likes of Halbrand and Galadriel in their search for the Dark Lord Morgoth’s servant Sauron.
