The Tuskar Rock Tragedy
9.35PM, RTé ONE ★★★★
On March 24, 1968, an Aer Lingus plane left Cork Airport carrying 61 passengers and crew, bound for Heathrow. The flight never made it – after sending a distress message to air traffic control, the plane crashed into the sea near the Tuskar Rock lighthouse off the Wexford coast. There were no survivors. This documentary looks back at the worst crash in Irish aviation history, hearing from friends and relatives of the victims — including the brother of Paul Heffernan (right) who was the co-pilot — as well as aircraft experts.
