CORONATION STREET

How much further can they push the Bernie/Fern storyline, when the two women don’t look remotely alike? They’re not letting it go yet, and masquerading as Bernie, Fern takes a cleaning job at a jewellery shop. Left alone when the boss takes his lunch break (like that would happen!), she cleans the place out. Alas, the police arrest Bernie (below), showing her the CCTV footage. Come on. Any jeweller worth their salt would have CCTV footage from different angles. It’s not a huge leap from there to go, ‘Hang on! That’s a different person!’

Mistaken identity is clearly something of an obsession at the moment, and Chesney will be relieved when he discovers that a positive pregnancy test he found in a jacket Gemma bought from a clothes swap isn’t hers. Viewers will feel the same. How many crying kids can one house have — and where are the quads, by the way? Are they ever allowed downstairs? And do they ever get fed?

Paul recognises the jacket as having belonged to Summer, who comes clean about the pregnancy.
