Gardaí probe alleged assault at U-9s game
GARDAÍ and the Munster GAA Council are carrying out investigations into an alleged assault on an Under-9 player.
A man is alleged to have grabbed the child by the throat during a hurling blitz in Thurles, Co. Tipperary, on Saturday last.
In a statement issued to the Irish Mail on Sunday, a Garda spokesman said: ‘Enquiries are ongoing. As the incident involves young persons An Garda Síochána will not be commenting further.’
A spokesman for Munster GAA confirmed that the adult accused has not been suspended – ‘Nothing can happen until the investigation is concluded. That will take a couple of weeks.’
