CLASSIC HIFI COOL GOES DIGITAL

-

Founded over seventy years ago, McIntosh produces some of the finest amplifiers available. Whilst a classic McIntosh tube amplifier set-up can be eyewateringly expensive, the New York company has introduced a new all-in-one loudspeaker for the digital era.

The RS150 Wireless Loudspeaker is an easy-to-use, compact wireless speaker that still delivers the larger-than-life home audio sound performance that McIntosh is known for. It is a stand-alone solution that needs no dedicated control app. Instead, it has a variety of builtin music casting technologies such as Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Apple AirPlay 2.

It is equipped with Bluetooth and Chromecast and is Roon Ready, letting you easily stream to the RS150 from your smart devices. The 5 ¼” woofer in a large enclosure has 90 Watts of power while the tweeter gets 30 watts, producing room filling sound.

There’s also a quick responding LED digital meter.

It also supports file streaming of up to 24-bit/192kHz highresolution digital music files too. It will cost a hefty €1400, see mcintoshlabs.com.
