RISING FOOD PRICES ARE REALLY JUST NOT CRICKET
BUDGET supermarket Aldi has considered ‘getting a jump’ on other supermarkets by selling edible cricket kits as the cost-ofliving crisis ramps up.
Insects such as crickets are a cheap and sustainable, rich source of protein.
And Aldi has weighed up whether to stock products made from them by Yum Bug, whose founders are competing against other food start-ups to get their particular item on the supermarket’s shelves, in a new television show.
The duo behind Yum Bug appeared on Channel 4’s ‘Aldi’s Next Big Thing’ this week.
‘Crickets are up to 70% protein, which is three times the amount of protein found in beef. They’ve also got more iron than spinach, more calcium than milk, and the list keeps going. They are an incredible superfood,’ company founder
