In wanders Lagarde and up goes the price of a pint!

PRESIDENT of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde dropped into popular Dublin pub Kehoes on Friday after her Late Late Show appearance. But by happenstance her visit coincided with the boozer jacking up the price of a pint by 10cent due to inflation.

Given that the French economist had just announced another round of mortgage rate hikes her appearance at Kehoes didn’t go unnoticed by the suits who frequent the popular city centre pub.

Lagarde, pictured right, was seen sipping a few discreet G&Ts along with a companion (and three Garda minders). But no sooner had customers noticed who was in their midst than word went around and people flocked in to have a gander.

‘It was really ridiculous,’ said one punter, ‘It’s not like she’s some celebrity but the way some were behaving you’d think it was Beyoncé.’

Lagarde, obviously realising she had been rumbled, stayed on for another while but with her presence causing a paparazzistyle frenzy she soon finished her drink and departed the watering hole with her three protection people in lockstep.
