Truth meeting fiction with Bram and Molly

-

The real Bram Stoker was born and raised in Marino Crescent in Clontarf, in Dublin. After school, he attended Trinity College, Dublin, where he was a star athlete. He always had a great love of writing and theatre.

After college, he first became a newspaper theatre critic, and later a theatre manager in London ... and then he decided to combine these two loves to write books such as Dracula, The Lady in the Shroud, and The Lair of the White Worm.

Molly Malone is definitely a fictional character, best known from the famous Dublin song of the same name – although many children in Victorian Dublin were forced to live the precarious life of homelessness and hunger that Molly leads in this book. Some children still find themselves living like this today, in Ireland and all over the world.

As you go through life, try to think of Molly and the Spooks, the fun they had and the hardships they endured, and remember that a helping hand is always better than a harsh word.
