ALEXANDER ARMSTRONG IN SOUTH KOREA

-

After the success of his trip to Iceland last year, the ever-so genial Pointless host is off on his travels again. Once the pandemic restrictions were lifted, Armstrong (above) was keen to visit somewhere ‘truly and excitingly different’ and he couldn’t have chosen a better country than South Korea, a global powerhouse and economic miracle that is, incredibly, around the same size as the state of Indiana and just 77 years old. On the first stop of this eye-opening threepart travelogue, Armstrong

resembles a bewildered tourist as he wanders the futuristic streets of the capital Seoul, where

26 million people live and play in a city that never sleeps.

There he wants to learn why Korean culture — in music, TV, cinema and online — has proved so popular worldwide. But he also wants to find out about the country’s troubled history and the price its citizens have paid for its dizzying success. It’s fun and thoughtful — just like Armstrong himself.
