NIP/TUCK

THE HIGH PRICE OF BEAUTY

Long before Glee, American Horror Stories and Dahmer, this was the show that first gave us a glimpse of the convention-defying storytelling of showrunner Ryan Murphy. Nip/Tuck is everything that medical dramas traditionally aren’t, namely full of unsympathetic characters far more concerned with satisfying their own needs than with taking care of their patients. Over six series we follow the ups and downs of plastic surgeons Sean and Christian (Dylan Walsh and

Julian McMahon, right) as they repair and romance the women of first Miami and then, in later years, LA.

TOAST SATISFYING CULINARY BIOPIC

Based on cookery writer Nigel Slater’s autobiography, this 2010 culinary coming-of-age tale is both sweet and tart. The Good Doctor’s Freddie Highmore is huggably lovely as young Nigel, with great support from Helena Bonham Carter, who delivers a delicious performance as Nigel’s resolutely ‘common’ stepmother — she provides the bitterness in the show’s taste — and the mighty Ken Stott as Nigel’s dad. This one-off period drama, originally shown on the BBC, captures perfectly the flavour (or lack of it) of life in 1960s Britain.

PLAY-DOH SQUISHED NEW CREATIVE GAME SHOW

Can you turn a lump of PlayDoh into a convincing replica of the Statue of Liberty? This is the kind of skill you’ll need in this fun new family game show, in which teams of adults and children compete across various challenges for the approval of host Sarah Hyland and showbiz guests. These include actresses Alyssa Milano and Julie Bowen, who played Hyland’s on-screen mum in the hit sitcom Modern Family. Weekly from Friday

CLARKSON’S FARM

JEREMY HAS A LOT TO LEARN...

The idea of the loud-mouthed petrolhead from Top Gear knuckling down to try to run a farm seems like a joke, right? Prepare to be surprised. Assistant Kaleb teaches Clarkson (left) that there’s a lot at stake.
