Key revelations from HSE whistleblower
IN RECENT weeks, whistleblower Shane Corr has made a series of protected disclosures to the Irish Mail on Sunday which have resulted in a spotlight being shone on issues which the health authorities would rather keep secret.
These revelations include:
■ Internal Health Service Executive
warnings of a systematic breakdown in the State’s ‘insolvent’ disability sector;
A €1.6m hole in the pension fund of the St John of God Hospital which was kept secret from employees;
Breaches of HSE grant rules involving Parkrun Ireland that were allowed to continue unchecked for years;
The withholding by the Department of Health of a report by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform which showed that the €25m takeover of City West during the Covid-19 pandemic was poor value.
