Has Paddy cottoned on to cheating wife Chas?

-

For a man who must be au fait with every sinew of every animal, Paddy is breathtakingly dim when it comes to humans. He knew about Chas’s reputation when they married, and she’s all but had ‘I’m sleeping with Al’ tattooed on her forehead (mind you, the name Al could’ve been replaced by the name of most other guys in this place). If Aaron found out within two minutes of arriving back in the village, anyone could.

Deciding to go to Liv’s send-off instead of Al’s funeral, grief later overwhelms Chas when she reads Al’s order of service (above). Noticing her rage, Paddy starts to wonder whether there’s more to Chas’s escalating grief.

Paddy, it’d be harder to smell a rat in an infestation in the cellar. This one’s so huge, it could star in a remake of Ratatouille.

Kerry doesn’t so much smell a rat as have a whacking great rodent drop on her head. Her suspicion of Al’s cheating is confirmed when his estate agent calls and lets slip Al was buying a house for his partner and her child. And guess who’s there to provide support? Chas, of course, who encourages Kerry to make a big decision. Have another pint, that’s the only big decision anyone ever has to make here.

There’s some light relief when Liv’s ashes are tipped over Vinny and he manages to laugh. Record that rare event for posterity.
