Having made £75 flogging copies of the book about her serial killer dad, she announces to classmates that she’s planning a special tribute to him in school. Hope (below) then steals a hammer from Tyrone’s toolbox, and when she overhears two pupils calling her a ‘nut job’, she heads towards them with the hammer…

Over at the community centre, Mary gives an OTT performance in rehearsal, prompting director Nigel to tell Ken he intends to replace her with an actress friend. But Ken and Brian suggest he asks the actress to coach Mary instead.

The actress turns out to be Martha (Stephanie Beacham), Ken’s ex from the canal boat. First Wendy, now her… the man can’t turn a corner without meeting an old love, but that’s the risk you take when you’re Weatherfield’s greatest lothario. How long before Martha is offering Ken supper on her barge?
