Actor Idris Elba and his wife Sabrina are the new faces for Calvin Klein and this new Eternity Aromatic Essence, one for him and the other for her. The floral female scent will appeal to those who like a more unusual scent. Its notes include lavender, lime and ambrette, plus coconut water, a salty peony accord and blackcurra­nt. The dry down is the always-popular sandalwood and the overall vibe of the fragrance is a light, fresh and modern. A hit for the summer months? It’s looking likely.

NEW SCENT Shiseido Ginza Night EDP Intense €104/50ml, Arnotts and pharmacies nationwide

Leading Japanese brand Shiseido has added to its Ginza fragrance collection with a new Intense version of the original that celebrates Tokyo’s most iconic district. Ginza Night is a gourmand woody floral with lighter opening notes of juicy mandarin, tangy blackcurra­nt and sustainabl­y sourced jasmine absolute. The floral note gives way to vanilla and cedarwood for the final dry down. Perfumer Karine Dubreuil has created a sensual scent that is both exciting and deeply layered.

Parisian brand Bon Parfumeur is an independen­t fragrance company creating clean, genderless French-made perfumes. There are 29 in the line and the scents have numbers rather than names. The brand uses different perfumers for its scents, in the case of 901 it’s

Corinne Cachen, and there are some interestin­g blends. The warm spicy 901 has notes of ginger and grapefruit followed by pepper, nutmeg, almond, vanilla, musk and tonka bean. A cosy, creamy and alluring fragrance.

SPRING MAKEUP Too Faced Born This Way Mini Eye Shadow Palette €36, Arnotts and select stockists

Too Faced has lots of new products launching in 2024, not least a curl version of its best-selling Better Than Sex mascara (€34) and six shades of a new lip oil, €26 each. This new Mini Eye Shadow Palette is one of two and each has six matte and shimmer shades to suit any eye look.

The palette here is the Warm version with tones that would look great with green or blue eyes. The Cool version has opposite tones.

SPRING MAKEUP Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Intimatte €37/13 shades, Brown Thomas, Arnotts and online

Lancôme’s new Blushing Nudes lipsticks is a 13-piece collection for all skin tones that has been designed to be used on the lips and cheeks. The lipsticks have a soft matte finish and they are infused with Damask Rose and Rose de Mai extracts plus ceramides. These are incredibly nourishing and not usually found in lipsticks or cheek colour. Monochroma­tic makeup is very chic and easy to wear, simply apply a little to the lips and cheeks and tap into place for a pretty everyday look.

The Irish tan brand first launched its Express Liquid Tan in 2004 and it remains a best seller today 20 years on. One of my all-time favourites, the self-tan has a proper bronze finish without any orange tones.

I also prefer a liquid formula over a mousse or lotion because it lasts so much longer. The new Dark version has added hydration and antioxidan­ts as skincare benefits and the tan has guide colour to avoid streaking. He-Shi says the tan will fade naturally after seven to 10 days — great for tan fans.

REJUVENATI­NG SKINCARE P20 Urban Shield Face Cream SPF50+ €30, Dunnes Stores, pharmacies and online

Sunscreens labelled with the ‘city’ or ‘urban’ like P20’s newest SPF have been created to wear every day and to sit perfectly under makeup. The formulas are more like skincare than sunscreen and are easier to pop on in the morning. P20’s has zero fragrance, is vegan and suitable for sensitive skin. A blend of antioxidan­ts are inside to fight environmen­tal damage from pollution, and a broad-spectrum UV filter that is double the EU’s required UVA protection. It is also water-resistant.

REJUVENATI­NG SKINCARE Kiehl’s Truly Targeted Acne-Clearing Solution €31, Kiehl’s counters and stores

Kiehl’s is very much a results-driven brand, whether it’s tackling ageing or acne. It has just launched two new acne fighting treatments — this for targeting individual spots and the Expertly Clear Lotion for larger areas, €50.

The Solution reduces pimple colour in just two hours and shrinks its size in under a day with a liquid that includes salicylic acid, niacinamid­e, liquorice root and glycerin to clear up the skin. The Treatment Lotion has a lower concentrat­e of actives to work less intensivel­y on the skin.

REJUVENATI­NG SKINCARE UKLash Eyelash Serum €46.51, uklash/en-ie

This UKLash brand is a little under the radar but it has a big Irish fanbase for this Eyelash Serum. The liquid serum is for growing stronger and longer lashes in just 25 days. It has a cocktail of nourishing ingredient­s like vitamins, biotin, green tea extract and peptides to nourish each lash and it’s simply painted along the lash line like eye liner and allowed to dry. A version for sensitive eyes is also available (also €46.51) and the website has lots of bundle offers for lashes, brows and mascara.
