YSL’s Fred Letailleur creates the glowing, long-wear look

-

There is always a buzz when YSL’s leading makeup artist Fred Letailleur comes to Ireland as he always has a hack or two up the sleeve of his leather jacket. Fred has been with YSL for a long time, and there isn’t anything he doesn’t know about makeup. His Dublin trip was to celebrate Dua Lipa’s new Love Shine lipstick collection. If you haven’t seen the campaign, Dua is emerging from a pool and looking beautiful, and the theme of the shoot is hydration because the new Love Shine goes from lipstick to a wet-shine lip oil for a semi-sheer, light-reflecting finish.

In the campaign, Dua wears the Love Shine shade 44 (right) which is a heavenly pink-tan nude and already selling out, but there are 20 other shades available.

Fred created a masterclass for press and influencers in Dublin’s Chocolate Factory during his visit and talked through his model’s look as he used a variety of YSL heroes and new products. He applied the brand’s full cover All Hours Foundation, a very long-wear formula that offers complete coverage (€50 SPF 39/40 shades). As Fred talked through the skin prep and application of his model’s look, he shared his top makeup hack for making your foundation look twice as good without losing

that all-day durability. All Hours feels comfortable and covers everything so it’s a great foundation for any time of the year. But in summer, we tend to want a lighter foundation without losing any durability.

To use it differently and lighten up the coverage to give the foundation a radiant finish, Fred decided to mix a little primer into the foundation. Making a half-and-half mix, Fred used YSL’s Touche Eclat Blur Primer (€43) and All Hours to create a radiant, longwearing and medium coverage foundation and he applied it to the model’s face with a brush. The primer is a classic at the French brand and one of its all-time best sellers. A lightweight blurring sheer liquid, it is infused with minute gold particles. It can be worn under any foundation or on bare skin for glowing skin. Making a half-andhalf blend with All Hours lightened up the full cover the foundation

usually gives but it doesn’t do away with the long-wear capabilities of the makeup.

To finish the look, apply a little powder to the T-zone in case of a shine, but leave the rest of the face bare unless you need the extra security. After applying that radiant primer and foundation mix why would you cover it with a mattifying powder?
