Ailbhe Malone mourns the soon-to-be demise of JLS

TRACK OF THE WEEK: Tube Stops and Lonely Hearts by Annie Annie’s career is the Sagrada Familia of pop (look at us with a fancy art reference). Constantly under construction, with glimpses of excellence, and tantalising snippets released. Finally, we get a single - the first since 2009. It’s a Xenomania joint, and features the lyrics “Tube stops and lonely hearts/ I lost the rhythm yeah I’m falling apart”. What more do you want?

Pop Corner is in full mourning. JLS is no more. We’d purchase a black lace veil, but we all know that JLS would prefer a red, blue, green and yellow combo. Like their signature hoodies. There’ll be a tour, and a greatest hits album, and as 2013 ends, so will JLS. Oritsé told Alan Carr: “At the end of the day we have had an amazing six years together. We have been on a journey that no one else may have seen, the hard times as well as the good times. But we are the luckiest four boys in the world.”

Yes, they’ve all got other things to be doing. Marvin’s got a baby en route with Rochelle Saturdays. Oritsé is managing girl band Vida, and the other two are probably doing stuff. JLS RIP.

Remind us never to mess with Little Mix. When asked by Top of the Pops what they’d do to a cheating boyfriend, they turned creative. Leigh-Anne mused “I’d kidnap them and wax every hair on their bodies until they’re screaming in pain.” Jesy’s plans were more long-term though.”I’d make them have a tattoo on their heads saying they’ve cheated, so no-one would go near them.” Golly.

We like Selena Gomez more and more – she’s just admitted to being starstruck around Ryan Gosling. During a radio interview, she explained her secret crushes. “Ryan Gosling is such a given, but he’s super-cute. I’ve not met him yet. I’ve seen him on a plane – and I didn’t – I freaked out so I didn’t even – I don’t even think he saw me so . . . but that one.” He’d be lucky to have you, Sel.
