COURTNEY BARNETT Bein’ Around Mom + Pop

Music On last year’s Avant Gardener from her A Sea of Split Peas double EP, Courtney Barrett’s nasal vocals and rambling delivery made for a wildly unlikely yet original sound. (Think Muriel from Muriel’s Wedding fronting The Velvets or The Modern Lovers.) Here the Melbourne native dips into the past again, with a romantic ditty that first appeared on 1993’s C’mon Feel The Lemonheads album. That’s right: Evan Dando is hip again. I can’t believe it either.

THE WAR ON DRUGS ft JIM JAMES Mind Games (Live in Portland)

The Philadelphia rockers’ Lost in the Dream is one of the best new rock albums of the year so far. Here Adam Granduciel is joined by My Morning Jacket’s Jim James for a frizz-tastic duet on an old John Lennon classic. It’s like watching Chewbacca’s parents meet and fall in love.

Capitol “Why do men objectify women in every single video?” muses J-Lo and her rent-a-crowd gaggle of sassy girlfriends. “Why can’t we objectify the men? Why can’t we be surrounded by naked dudes for no reason?” It’s a profound question, Jennifer. Why can’t all of us be surrounded by the naked people of our choosing, for no reason? I have a dream this afternoon!

She Looks So Perfect

Capitol Mike, Luke, Calum and Ashton (below) are four Australian toddlers sent to earth specifically to hunt down and terminate One Direction. Their debut single includes a major product placement – not in the video, but in the actual chorus of the song. Needless to say, it’s next-level stuff. She Looks So Perfect has already gone straight in at No 1 in both Ireland and the UK. What can we say, Harry, Niall et al? Clear out your desks by lunchtime.
