Wake up! It’s Record Store Day
ower Records on Dublin’s Dawson Street will open its doors at 8am tomorrow for those eager to get their hands on limited edition albums and singles released for Record Store Day. Instore performances will take place in its café throughout the day, including sets by Lisa Hannigan, Little Matador, Join Me in the Pines (the new project by Bell X1’s Dave Geraghty) and Derry singer-songwriter SOAK.
They’ll have some competition for customers from nearby Grafton Street, however; a new branch of HMV is opening tomorrow in the location of the former A-Wear store, and is offering 40 per cent off all vinyl purchases and live performances from We Cut Corners, The Riptide Movement, Hermitage Green and Seo Linn. The RAGE. on Fade Street ,will have live music and DJs, discounts and giveaways throughthe day.
The Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield will be screening Empire Records at 10.30pm tomorrow and Dublin’s Girl Band will release their 25-second-long single The Cha Cha Cha, limited to 100 flexidisc copies.
