DEAD NATION

The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - FUN & GAMES - CIARA O’BRIEN

18 cert, Sony, PS Vita The zombie thriller has come to the PS Vita and, while it’s not perfect, it has its moments. If you’ve already played this on the PS3 there’s little new here. The game is essentially the same but on a smaller screen. In this topdown shooter set during a zombie apocalypse, you’re given an array of weapons to choose from (some more useful than others) and the ability to upgrade them as you progress through the game. The plot is the same: track down the body of patient zero to help a slightly suspect doctor create a cure for the zombie outbreak. As one of the few humans immune to the virus, infection may not be a massive concern for you, but getting chomped on by zombies is another consideration altogether. The smaller screen has its drawbacks. The atmosphere of the PS3 version is replicated, but that moody tone can make it hard to see where the next attack is coming from until it’s too late. Flawed but fun.
