Fifty Shades way out in front
In another part of this paper recently , we wondered whether anybody still cared about the upcoming film adaptation of the erotic romance novel Fifty Shades of Grey. Boy, is there egg (and other unpleasant substances) on our face. Less than a week after emerging on YouTube, the clip became the most viewed video on that site for 2014. It is comfortably ahead of competing film trailers.
The suave promo for Godzilla (rather better than the film as it transpired) managed 26.3 million hits, whereas the Fifty Shades trailer registered a whopping 36.4 million views.
Of course, the video does contain content that might appeal to viewers in search of . . . well, mild arousal. We’ll leave it at that, shall we?
