Ca­sual jew­ellery for men

“The mar­ket for ca­sual jew­ellery for men is re­ally grow­ing,” says jew­eller Jenny Hus­ton whose Edge Only range for men – all made eth­i­cally in Ire­land – now ac­counts for 60 per cent of her sales in the UK. Her lat­est col­lec­tion fea­tures ear­rings, neck­laces and brooches – there’s one in the shape of a gui­tar, for in­stance – that come in gold, ster­ling sil­ver and 18ct gold ver­meil.

Hus­ton is the daugh­ter of the de­signer gold­smith and gem­mol­o­gist Jane Hus­ton who founded Kilkenny’s jew­ellery de­sign and pro­duc­tion skills course for the Crafts Coun­cil of Ire­land and ran it for 15 years, train­ing a whole gen­er­a­tion of Ir­ish jew­ellers and later worked for Canada’s largest jew­eller. Long­ford Louise

Louise Bren­nan is cer­tainly mak­ing her mark in her na­tive Long­ford. This month she is launch­ing Fabi­ani De­sign Week, so called af­ter her well- known life­style bou­tique in the town, with five up- and- com­ing Ir­ish de­sign­ers tak­ing part. They in­clude Amie Egan, Four Threads, Theo & Ge­orge, Pearl Red­ding­ton and Jill & Gill who will travel to the town to show­case their var­i­ous col­lec­tions which can be sam­pled and shopped from Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 26th to Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 6th. Bren­nan has also or­gan­ised an “In­ter­view with De­sign­ers” evening on the open­ing night with tick­ets lim­ited to two per ap­pli­cant and those wish­ing to at­tend should email info@ fabi­ani. ie by next Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 12th. Fabi­ani was voted one of the top five stores in Ire­land 2018 by Re­tail Ex­cel­lence and was re­cently short­listed for the Im­age Bou­tique Awards.
