Peter's Lifeboat Challenge gets onboard in Fenit
CASTLEGREGORY’S Peter Hennessy is on the final stretch on his quest to lose 35lbs and raise much needed funds for Fenit Lifeboat.
Fisherman Peter has had another excellent week having lost a further 5lbs. Six weeks ago Peter weighed 22 stone nine pounds (with a chest measurement of 55.75 inches and a stomach measurement of 55.5 inches).
Today, he weighs 20 stone (waist 50.5 inches, chest 48.5 inches), an incredible achievement in six weeks by anyone’s standards.
Peter’s spirits were bolstered this week as he travelled to Fenit to meet with lifeboat crew members Adrian O’mahony (chief deputy engineer), Kevin Deady (helm), Kevin Honeyman (mechanic) and John J Moriarty (cox-man) who are supporting him all the way in his efforts.
“We are heading towards the final furlong, all is going great with the weight and I have had great support with sponsorship cards,” Peter told The Kerryman this week. “It was great to meet with some of the crew in Fenit, it really makes all the difference to know they are supporting me all the way.”
Eating less is a challenge at the best of times and Peter himself admits that the hunger leaves him cranky on occasion!
“The reality is I can get edgy at times when I allow myself to get too hungry but we are all still in the one house!”
As of today – Wednesday January 18 – Peter’s weight stands at 20 stone. For details on how to sponsor Peter, donate to the cause, or to obtain a sponsorship card, please contact project co-ordinator Tina Moriarty at tina_moriarty@hotmail.comor telephone (086) 417 9326.
Be sure to follow Peter’s progress weekly in The Kerryman.
