Lonely Planet lists Dingle among Ireland’s Top Ten

DINGLE can add another string to its bow this week after the world renowned ‘Lonely Planet’ travel guide listed the town among its top ten ‘things to see and do in Ireland’.

The 10th edition of Lonely Planet’s Ireland guidebook, which was published only last week, lists a visit to Dingle as one of the best experience­s visitors to Ireland can enjoy.

The guide, which rates ‘the pub’ as Ireland’s ‘greatest experience’ lists Dingle alongside Dublin, Connemara, traditiona­l music, Glendaloug­h, Galway City, hiking, Brú na Bóinne and the Rock of Cashel in their top rated things to do and see.

The guide is written by Coordinati­ng Author Fionn Davenport and a team of writers who personally visited thousands of hotels, restaurant­s, cafes, bars, galleries, museums and more.

Locals were delighted with the news, representa­tives from the Dingle Business Chamber adding that it was a great boost for From left, Tom Hand, Dearbhla Sheehy, Briain agus Niall Ó Conchúir, Michael Begley and Kathleen Sheehy celebratin­g the inclusion of Dingle in the Lonely Planet Guide of the Top Ten things to see and do in Ireland this week. the Dingle Peninsula that a travel guide as reputed as Lonely Planet would give the town such a positive rating, especially amid such challengin­g times.

It’s not the first time the area has received internatio­nal attention; in 2008 Tripadviso­r. com listed Dingle in the top 20 destinatio­ns in the world to visit and the town’s popularity has seen it continue to feature strongly in the site’s listings ever since.
