The late John Leen

1940-2011

THE death occurred on December 15th at Kerry General Hospital of John Leen surrounded by his family, following a short illness.

John was born in Arabella, Ballymacelligott, to Jack and Peg Leen. He was the second eldest of twelve children.

Having attended Clogher NS and Tralee Technical School, he worked for a short while in The Grand Hotel in Tralee.

He emigrated to London in 1957 and worked in the construction industry until he returned to Arabella in 1990.

He then took up employment in FÁS for a further three years. During his retirement he loved to keep fit, he walked and cycled on a daily basis, often cycling three to four miles a day.

John enjoyed the craic and sing song along with a few pints at the weekend with his friends. He was a good friend and neighbour to those who had the privilege of knowing him.

John made regular trips to London to see his family, to whom he was very devoted to, particularly to his daughter Linda who predeceased him in October 2010, to his daughter Shirley, grandchildren Charlene, Amanda and Megan and great grandchildren Charlie, Lewis and Alfie.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. John was predeceased by his daughter Linda, his father Jack, brothers Mick and Denny. He is survived by his mother Peg, daughter Shirley brothers and sisters and extended family.

May he rest in peace.
