A bit of Suite magic comes to Siamsa Tíre

-

HAVING entertained sellout audiences in Dublin last year, Rough Magic brings its hit comedy Plaza Suite to Siamsa Tire on Friday and Saturday, February 3- 4.

A popular and critical success, Plaza Suite, written by Pulitzer Prize- winning playwright Neil Simon, is a play in three acts detailing the misadventures of three very different couples who successively occupy Suite 719 of New York City’s famous Plaza Hotel.

Recipient of more Academy and Tony nominations than any other writer and author of the classics, The Odd Couple and Brighton Beach Memoirs, Plaza Suite showcases Simon at his best — witty, sophisticated and deliciously funny.

In the first act, directed by Sophie Motley, a notsoblissfully married suburban couple, (Karen Ardiff and Mark Lambert), return to their honeymoon suite in an attempt to revive their failing marriage.

In the second vignette, directed by Aoife Spillane- Hinks, a famous movie producer tries to seduce an old flame, (Darragh Kelly and Ali White), in true Hollywood fashion.

In the final act, directed by Matt Torney, a distraught couple ( Stephen Brennan and Eleanor Methven) face their daughter’s wedding jitters.

The three act production is directed by three of Ireland’s most exciting young theatre directors, each graduates of Rough Magic’s Seeds Programme for young practitioners. Valerie O’connor and Paul Curley join the stellar cast taking on supporting roles.

This is Rough Magic’s third visit to Siamsa Tíre. Previously, the company toured with the award winning production, Improbable Frequency and The Taming of the Shrew, starring Pauline Mcglynn – two sell out tours in Tralee.

Tickets € 22/€ 18 on ( 066) 712- 3055 and at www.siamsatire.com
