The Open Learning Centre, NUI Galway is offering a new programme in Skills for Life and Employment (NQF Level 7). Designed to focus on skills that enhance employability and professional effectiveness, participants will complete a personally unique skills portfolio which can be applied to professional career goals. Communication, problem solving, personal organisation, people and task management skills, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation are just some of the skills areas that participants will cover during the 12-week distance learning programme.

‘We are delighted to offer this new programme which responds to a very real need, particularly in the current economic climate where people are looking at upskilling options. It is a practical approach to personal and professional skills development and will facilitate participants in identifying employability strengths, weaknesses and abilities. Ultimately, developing a professional skills portfolio will greatly enhance future employment and promotion prospects’ says Dr Anne Walsh Academic Director.

The popular Foundation Diploma in Training and Education is also commencing in March. ‘In contrast to many other ‘train the trainer’ courses, this programme is awarded at NFQ level 7. This means that students who complete the 12-week programme can progress to complete a Certificate, Diploma, Degree in Training and Education or indeed a Masters in Adult Learning and Development.

Programmes are organised to be flexible for the adult learner and are offered at various locations throughout the country. For further information visit www.nuigalway.ie/op enlearningcentre
