BEALE GAA: Beale were defeated Ballydonog­hue in the first round of 2011 Under-21 Championsh­ip on Sunday in Ballylongf­ord. Trailing by 4 points to 7 at half time, we found it difficult to score in the first half. A sharper Ballydonog­hue took command of the game and but we brought them to within 1 point in the closing minutes with a superb goal. However the levelling point eluded us and the final scoreline read: Beale 1-6, Ballydonog­hue 0-10. Team: Joe Downey, Brendan Moran, Philly Blake, Andy O’connell, Tomás Quinn, Shane Joy, Cormac Walshe (0-1), Pádraig Murphy, Mark Culloty (0-1), Jamie Culloty (1-0), Paul Horgan (0-2(1f)), Pádraic Walshe, Ian Mannix, Tom Joy (0-1), Diarmuid Crowe (0-1(f)). Substitute­s: Charlie Mccarthy for Cormac Walshe (injured), Micheál Beasley for Brendan Moran. Bord na nóg AGM will be held in the Community Centre on this Saturday, January 21st at 8.30pm. The AGM of Beale GAA Club will be held in the Community Centre next Saturday, January 28th at 8.30pm. Nomination­s for officers of the club and motions for the agenda to be submitted to the Secretary by January 21st. We still await details of dates and venues for Senior County League playoff and Novice Shield. It’s that time of year again when Beale GAA take to the stage. An event not to be missed when we perform “Goldilocks and the 3 Bears” in the Tinteán Theatre on Friday, February 3rd and Saturday, February 4th, with throw-in at 7.30pm. A momentous occasion as players, trainers, club officers and parents perform together on stage. Leading the cast as “Goldilocks” is secretary of the Ladies club, Molly Breen, and the 3 bears are John Farrell, vice-chairman of the Beale GAA club, Noreen Hitchen, ladies goalkeeper and Tom O’neill, under-age mentor. Tickets for a great evening of entertainm­ent, fun and frolics are available from Joyce’s Newsagent, Ballybunio­n Credit Union or from Mairead @ 086-3937654, with special rates for families, senior citizens and students. There was no winner of last week’s jackpot draw for the Beale GAA / Community Centre Lotto. Next draw takes place in Holly’s Bar on Sunday at 9.30pm. Tickets for the lotto, worth E3,100, available from Joyce’s Newsagent and Beale GAA Club. Weekly results are displayed in local business premises. The finals of Scór Sinsear Chiarraí Thuaidh will take place at the Community Centre Asdee on Saturday, January 28th commencing at 7.00pm sharp.
