This team reached the semi-final at Under 14 level last year, but we found it very difficult to keep up the pace against the local St. Mary's team and Kanturk who play in Division One in the Cork league. Niamh Carmody was our best player combining great defence with attacking play which yielded her 11 points and Saoirse Ahern scored eight. Niamh Culhane and Laura O'sullivan did well under the boards and Patricia Jackman had a good game in defence as well as picking up two baskets. In contrast we had only the minimum number of players for our under -13 team. We got a bye in the first round and played Presentation, Castleisland in the quarter-final. We were well in touch at half time, but naturally we ran out of steam in the second half and the locals reeled off the last five baskets for a comfortable win, Rachel Moriarty rebounded well and Maire O'neill and Clara Hanrahan made sure that Castleisland had to work very hard for every score earned. Naomh Laichtin never gave in up and the five players left the court to rounds of applause from the packed hall. Roisin O'keeffe top scored with 10 points and Muirne Wall got six. Naomh Laichtin Under 16. Patricia Jackman, (Capt.) Saoirse Ahern, Laura O'sullivan, Julie O'sullivan, Niamh Culhane, Niamh Carmody, Laura Mulvihill, Michelle Mccarthy, Rachel Collins.
