GAA NEWS: CLUB SECRETARY – Kilmoyley hurling club require a new club secretary. If anyone is interested in this position please contact club chairman Fintan Ryan. Help and assistance will be given to the new secretary on fulfilling the duties as secretary. GAA SOCIAL - The club's 50th annual dinner dance social takes place in Ballyroe Heights hotel on Saturday 11th February. Medal presentati­ons to Minors, U21’s, Intermedia­tes and Seniors will take place on the night. There will be special guests, spot prizes, great food and entertainm­ent and a trip down memory lane celebratin­g 50 Kilmoyley GAA socials. Our first GAA social took place in the Manhattan hotel, Tralee on 17th January 1963 - a Thursday night, and has been an annual event ever since. The club would be delighted to share any old social photos on the night to give a flavour of how celebratio­ns and fashions have changed over the years. KILMOYLEY NATIONAL SCHOOL NEWS: ART COMPETITIO­N - Congratula­tions to Maeve Godley, First Class, Kilmoyley National School whose artwork was selected for the Colgate 2012 “What makes you smile” calendar. Maeve also won a sports pack for the school (bibs, footballs and goals) and a voucher for Smyth’s Toys Superstore for herself. The competitio­n was open to children from junior infants to second class. Maeve’s picture was one of just 12 selected from more than 800 entries. Maeve drew a beautiful picture of a robin, which stood out to the judges because of its creativity and visual appeal. DOODLE 4 GOOGLE - Best of luck to Robert Monahan, Shaun Mccabe, Ronan Walsh and Jessica O’ Sullivan whose “Doodle 4 Google” illustrati­ons have reached the semi-final stage of the competitio­n. The children received certificat­es to mark their achievemen­t. CELEBRATIN­G OUR FRIEND THE TREE - Children from Kilmoyley National School were delighted when their model of a sofa made by reusing milk cartons won two cherry trees for the school from the National Tree Council of Ireland. The trees arrived on Friday last and the children watched in delight as Michael Curran planted the trees in the school grounds. CILLARD CAMOGIE CLUB: Training for U8’s and U10’s takes place on Tuesday evenings at Kilmoyley community centre from 7 to 8pm. There is a cover charge for use of the centre of 2 per child. Training for U12 and U14 has been changed from previous notes, training at Causeway hurling wall on Tuesday from 7 to 8pm. 2 charge to cover costs please. AGM – The Cillard camogie club AGM will take place in Kilmoyley Community centre on Tuesday the 24th January at 7pm. All parents welcome. COACHING – Any former hurlers or camogie players or parent willing to help out with coaching camogie would be greatly appreciate­d. WALKING CLUB: This coming Sunday the 22nd January the group have a change of outing to the original program, as terrain unsuitable due to the recent wet weather, in its place we have an approx four hour road and track with a gradual climb taking in part Dingle and Connor pass. Light boots needed also stick and packed lunch. Anyone interested meet at Tochar Car Park at 9.30am. Wednesday morning two hour local walks the group meet at Church car park at 9am. All welcome. Reminding all of meeting this coming Thursday 19th January at Kilmoyley community centre to organize trip away. All suggestion­s welcome. MINOR FOOTBALL TRAINING began tuesday night this week in Ardfert sportsfiel­d at 7.30pm. Gerard O'mahony Ballinprio­r and Pat O'driscoll Tralee are this years trainers. Any one interested please be at Ardfert sportsfiel­d next tuesday night for 7.30pm. All lads in this age group are very welcome to attend. FITNESS CLASSES coming to Kilmoyley!
