Comhaltas
WEBSITE: We are currently updating our website and we would appreciate if all branches would forward details of their activities/classes for the attention of Sheila at admin@kerrycomhaltas.com COMHALTAS IRISH PROGRAMME: For the year 2012 branches all over Ireland are being asked to make a special effort in the promotion of the Irish language within their own branch. As you know this is often an area which we find much more difficult to promote than the areas of music, song and dance however it holds just as much importance as all three in the ethos of Comhaltas. We have outlined below different ideas which might help you in its promotion within your own branch Sult na nóg: For the first time this year we are including Comhrá Gaeilge competitions in the county at Sult na nóg level. We urge each branch to do their best to include at least one competitor in these competitions. We also suggest that your local primary school are an invaluable aid in this area as they may be able to suggest some children who might like to compete in this competition. We urge you to approach them and look for their assistance. We are aware that there are many branches that are making a great effort with regards Irish speaking classes in their localities. However we urge more branches to get involved and to try to organise these nights. If you feel there would not be enough people to hold a class in your area alone we are encouraging neighbouring branches to come together and to hold these classes together. It is only through speaking the language that we can keep it alive and help it to flourish. For further information please do not hesitate to call Danielle Ní Ríordáin on 087 2519591.
