The Kerryman (North Kerry)

Tralee have a lot on the line at home

- by Diarmuid Sheehan

TRALEE will put their recent improvement in form on the line next Sunday as they prepare to entertain Cork side Crosshaven. After dismissing the challenge of Thurles last weekend, the Kerry side will need to up their game again if they are to make it three wins on the bounce and secure their position in the safety of mid-table.

Killarney’s credentials as a side capable of winning promotion to the top flight will be put to the test this Sunday as they play league leaders Mallow. Home advantage will surely aid the Kerry men’s chances, but this is going to be their toughest test of the season so far.

Mallow go into this game knowing that a victory will put them on the precipice of promotion while Killarney need points to keep them in the title race. This could be one of the games of the season as neither side can afford to leave anything in the dressing room.

Castleisland, who currently sit in seventh, also play Cork opposition as they entertain Youghal at the Kerry venue. A win is vital for the home side as it keeps them just in touch with the teams above them while Youghal, who sit one spot behind their opponents are in exactly the same boat.

Killorglin and Corca Dhuibhne are the only two local representatives due to face league action in the J3 next Sunday. Killorglin sit third in the table and have to go to Bantry bay to keep their challenge on track. The Kerry side are looking good for promotion at this stage as they have games in hand on the two sides ahead of them.

Corca Dhuibhne entertain second from bottom Dunmanway this weekend knowing that success will secure their position in the middle of the pack. Corca have shown good form lately and despite the near miss loss to Abbeyfeale last time out, a home win looks to be the likely outcome in this one. SUNDAY, JANUARY 22 (2.30pm) Tralee v Crosshaven Killarney v Mallow Castleisland v Youghal Bantry Bay v Killorglin Corca Dhuibhne v Dunmanway 9
