Glenbeigh handballers hold court as Munster 40x20 Championships get underway
THE Munster 40x20 championships get underway this week with three Kerry players in action in three different grades.
On Thursday night in Cashel John Joe Quirke (Glenbeigh) takes on Denis White ( Tipperary) in the quarter-final of the Junior Singles championship.
Prior to this on the same bill will be Jack O’shea (Glenbeigh) who faces John Ferncombe ( Tipperary) in the quarter-final of the Junior B Singles Championship, which gets underway at 7:30pm.
Also in the Under-21 Singles Championship next Monday at 7:30pm in Cappagh, Limerick Colm O’luing (An Ghaeltacht) takes on Justin Cahill ( Tipperary) in the first round of the Under-21 championship.
Munster Senior Championship
THE draw for the Munster Senior Championship was made over the weekend. In the Mens Singles championship Dominick Lynch (Glenbeigh) takes on CJ Fitzpatrick (Limerick) in the quarter-final on Saturday, January 28 in Ballydesmond, Cork.
In the Ladies Senior Singles draw reigning All Ireland Champion Maria Daly (Ballymac) bidding for her third title in a row faces fellow club mate Caitriona Casey (Ballymac) in Ballymac on January 28 while Ashley Prendiville (Ballymac) takes on Corks Caitriona Casey in the other semi final on the same day.
Daly and Prendiville have a bye into the Munster Doubles final on February 11, where they will face the winners of the semi final between Caitriona and Aine Casey (Ballymac) and Caitriona Casey/aisling O’keefe (Cork).

The Kerry Handball Board AGM was held in the Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee on Sunday last and the following officers were elected.
