Kerry have signed world’s fastest hurler
KILKENNY All Ireland champion hurler, Willie O’dwyer has been in the news lately, with talk of him moving to the Kerry Senior hurling panel.
Willie moving to Kerry means he can also claim the ‘Fastest Hurler in the World’ title for the kingdom.
Heritage Hurleys, in association with the GAA Museum, are sponsoring an ongoing competition to find the fastest hurler in the world and Kerry can now claim to have the fastest hurler in the world with Willie O'dwyer being the hurler on top of the inter-county table as recorded by the speed camera at the interactive area, with a speed of 159kph.
Galway's Joe Canning is not to far behind and comes in at third place with 153km.
It's comes at no surprise that Kilkenny's, eight times record-breaking, All Ireland hurling champion, Henry Shefflin is also up there. Henry comes in with 143km and lies in 9th place.
It is also great to see that Offaly's hurling legend, Brian Whelahan still hasn't lost the touch. He makes the top 20 with a speed of 133km putting him in at 16th place.
Visitors of all ages can visit the interactive area in the GAA Museum at Croke Park where they can puck a sliotar against the speed camera and have their speed recorded!
Each month Heritage Hurleys will be giving a GAA County crest Souvenir hurl as a prize for the fastest hurler.
The competition runs all year long at the GAA Museum, so young and old can make their way to Croker to see how they compare to the legends.
