Yeehaw! Barndance is on the way
PREPARATIONS ARE well underway for this summer’s ‘Full Moon Barndance’ at Ballinruane Woods in Kilmeedy which will aim to raise much needed funds for St John's Ward at our Lady's Children's Hospital in Crumlin.
The usually quiet woodlands outside Newcastle West will be transformed into a hotspot for cowboys and cowgirls on July 11 and 12 and will, for the first time, include a children’s barndance on the Friday night, offering fun and games for primary school children of the area at €5 per child.
On Saturday night guests can enjoy live entertainment from ' The Unusual Suspects' followed by a DJ into the wee hours, as well as Gerry Humphries’ spectacular air show ' The Flying Cow'. Guests are also invited to dine in ‘ Tally Ho's' pop-up restaurant, serving traditional bacon and cabbage and BBQ treats, followed by Adare Farm Food's homemade Ice-cream.
For those who are thirsty, patrons are invited to head on down to the fully stocked saloon for eight drinks, all of which is included in the €50 entry fee.
And for anyone feeling adventurous, you can try your luck on the Bucking Bronco, Adult Twister or Spider Climber, while organisers are also recommending a trip to their intriguing ‘silent disco tent.’
Now in its fourth year, the Full Moon Barndance is traditionally held on the first full moon of the summer. Each year a different charity is chosen and to date the event has raised almost €52,000.
