COUNTY SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP: Last weekend marked the beginning of this year's Kerry County Senior Football Championship and what a marvelous occasion it was for our boys in Shannon Rangers who incidentally were the only North Kerry team to come through the first round after a splendid performance to see off a might surge by Kilcummin played as part of a double header programme in Listowel on Sunday last. In a ding dong encounter Rangers held a single point victory at the end on the score Shannon Rangers 1-11 Kilcummin 0-13 and so march on to round 3 of the competition which is not due to be played until mid July. Unfortunately St Kierans were defeated by Mid Kerry 2-14 to 2-10 and Feale Rangers were defeated by Austin Stack's 0-14 to 0-09 both these clubs will be in action in Round 2 next weekend.
