BECAUSE The Gluten Free Kitchen Company boasts a certified gluten free kitchen and has been approved by the Coeliac Society of Ireland, it’s no surprise that it has become the restaurant of choice for Coeliacs everywhere..

However, Doireann is keen to dispel the myth that gluten free food is only for allergy sufferers.

When setting up the restaurant, Doireann obviously wanted to provide a safe haven for coeliacs, free from the risk of cross contaminat­ion, but in doing so she also succeeded in providing diners with a healthy, delicious mainstream menu that just happens to be 100 per cent gluten and wheat free.

The restaurant offers a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu – including everything from breads, soups, salads and sandwiches to fish ‘n’ chips, lasagnes and quiches – and also has its own deli, bakery and food store.

Everything is homemade on the premises and all staff have a comprehens­ive knowledge of allergies and their effects. Meanwhile, qualified nutritioni­st Orla McCarthy is also available in-house to cater specifical­ly for people’s nutritiona­l requiremen­ts.

Those availing of The Gluten Free Kitchen Company’s evening menu are also invited to bring their own wine, subject to a small corkage fee.

Doireann and her team also offer an outside catering service, while the restaurant – including its stunning balcony area – can be pre-booked for private parties and functions.

The restaurant is currently open from Tuesday to Saturday, with weekend opening hours (Friday and Saturday) now extended to 9pm.
