THE Killorglin Family Resource Centre is an important part of daily life in the town where it continues to offer many essential services for the people there. Chief among them are Laune Childcare Services and Parent and Family Support networks. Killorglin FRC also have a spectacularly designed amenity area adjacent to the centre providing visitors with a beautiful sensory garden and fitness facility. The Laune Childcare Service is one which staff at the centre take immense pride in operating as Margaret Wrenn explains:

“Here at Laune Childcare we provide professional care for children. We are committed to providing a happy, relaxed and nurturing environment for children whilst also encouraging their physical, intellectual, linguistic, emotional and social development. We acknowledge parents/carers as primary educators of their children and encourage them to take an active part in their child’s learning,” explained Margaret.

Parent and family support: “Parenting courses are facilitated on a regular basis throughout the year at Killorglin Family Resource Centre. It has been our experience that the most important learning tool in the parenting classes is hearing other parents sharing their experience. We have an in-house Play Therapist who is qualified to support your child through Therapeutic Play. Our Counselling Service offers a quiet and calm space to families and individuals who will be guided in a caring and non-judgemental way in which to explore any difficulties they may be experiencing. We also provide community education and community development courses throughout the year,” Margaret concluded.

Amenity Area: In 2014 With Land donated from Kerry Co Council and with funding from the Rural Development Programme, Killorglin Family Resource Centre constructed a beautiful amenity area adjacent to the Resource Centre with sensory garden and an outdoor fitness area. Message from our Chairperson Paddy O Donoghue

I want to pay tribute to all the past and present Board Members of Killorglin Family Resource Centre, all of whom have given freely of their time, skills and knowledge to further advance the work of our Centre. I am both humbled and honoured to be chairperson of such an incredible Organisation. I also want to thank all our staff and volunteers for their continued professionalism and top class performance who underpin all aspects of the success of Killorglin Family Resource Centre. To all our funders and those that fundraised I say a huge Thank You. It is very rewarding to be supported by so many.

Killorglin Family Resource Centre is situated in the heart of Killorglin town and continues to provide services and supports to over 12,000 people primarily living in Killorglin, and the wider Mid-Kerry area. An average of 800 people access the services and supports on a weekly basis. Killorglin Family Resource Centre has had a significant impact on the community. The use of the facilities has grown exponentially and, in line with this growth, so has the regard with which the centre is placed within the community.
