‘Tree’mendous show from Marian Players
RATHMORE Community Centre played host to a glittering production of Babes in the Wood last Saturday night. It was the 29th annual pantomime staged by the Marian Players and has proved to just as popular and successful as any of its predecessors.
Public Relations Officer for the group, Michael O’Mahony could not have been happier with how the night went. “The enthusiasm and camaraderie in the group is wonderful to behold, especially given the differing ages and varying levels of experience needed to fulfil the roles in a production such as this.”
Having been going strong for nearly three decades, The Marian Players take immense pride in their long history of providing entertainment throughout generations.
“There are some people on board since the very beginning. Many of our members today are the children and even the grandchildren of the early participants,” Mr O’Mahony said.
Among the cast members was former Kerry Rose Mary Hickey who plays Alice, Ava Healy as Mary with Daniel Herlihy taking the roll of James. Everyone enjoyed the performance on Saturday night, including bishop of Kerry, Ray Brown.
“A special thanks to the families of both the adults and the children involved and also to the generous co-operation extended by the schools. Roll on next year for panto - number 30,” Mr O’Mahony added with a smile.
