Enda Kenny hits Tralee as Kerry voters prepare for decision 2016

-

AHEAD of calling the General Election Taoiseach Enda Kenny paid a visit to Tralee on Friday.

Though ostensibly Mr Kenny was in Tralee to officially launch the Government’s plan to roll out high speed broadband across Kerry his appearance at Ballyseedy Garden Centre had all the hallmarks of a campaign canvassing trip.

At the event the Toaiseach met with Conal Henry the CEO of Enet which has recently completed a 1 Gigabit a second fibre broadband network in rural north Kerry to showcase the company’s ability to deliver under the Government’s National Broadband Programme.

That north Kerry network was officially launched by Enda Kenny at the event on Friday morning in Ballyseedy.

The Enet broadband network in the area cost €650,000 and it provides fibre broadband connections to approximately 340 premises in the area.

It is Enet’s showcase project for the National Broadband Plan.

A large contingent of Fine Gael supporters were at Ballyseedy Garden Centre for the event where the The Taoiseach happily posed for photos and chatted with many of those in attendance.

“I am pleased to launch Enet’s fibre broadband network for north Kerry today which is a welcome service for this part of the country which, like much of rural Ireland, has been lagging behind for too long,” the Taoiseach said of Enet’s new service.
