DENISE IS TOPS

Congrats and well done to Denise Dunlea of Barna who was chosen as Tralee I.T Sports Person of the Year at the Annual I.T Tralee Clubs and Societies Ball and awards night held last week. To cap a great evening for the Barna lady, Denise also received an award for being Tralee I.T Ladies Basketball Player of the Year. Denise is an outstandin­g sports lady at basketball and ladies football and we wish her continued success and best of luck for the future.

WEDDING BELLS

Congratula­tions and all best wishes are extended to Danny O’Leary son of Mary and Dermot O’Leary of Knockrour East and Claire Moriarty, daughter of Mary and the late Timmy Moriarty of Ballinamon­agh Kilcummin who were married on Friday last April 15th in Our Lady of Lourdes Church Kilcummin.

The nuptial mass was celebrated by Fr. Joe Begley assisted by Fathers Dan O’Riordan, Tadgh and Michael Doherty and John Lucid. Danny and Claire held their reception in Ballygarry House Hotel and Spa Tralee and they will reside in Knockrour East.

Scartaglin GAA Club’s latest Lotto Draw was held in O’Connors Bar on Sunday night last when the Jackpot was €4800 and was not won. Numbers drawn were 7, 22, 24, 27. WORKERS MEMORIAL DAY

Thursday next April 28th is Workers Memorial Day and it’s a date on which all those who have died in the workplace are remembered as well as those who have been injured in work related accidents. Over the years, countless people have left their homes to go out to do an honest days work and have never come home due to being killed at work. This is an opportunit­y to remember such people.

FARMING HELP LINK

An important service has been set up by the IFA in conjunctio­n with Pieta House whereby informatio­n and support is available to farmers and their families through the Mind Our Farm Families’ phone line and counsellin­g service. This support and informatio­n helpline is 1890 130 022 and trained personnel are at hand to deal with anyone who has a problem or require on-going counsellin­g.

Following their recent appeal for donations for their missionary work, the Divine Word Missionari­es wish to thank very sincerely all parishione­rs who supported and contribute­d to their collection with the total amount collected coming to €2,776.07.

The total amount realised for the recent Daffodil Day Annual collection amounted to €8,562.00 and the organisers wish to thank all for their generosity.

C.A.O SEMINAR

Students who intend to pursue 3rd level education in 2016/2017 are being urged to attend a seminar in Killarney to help them choose the right options on their CAO applicatio­ns.

This seminar is titled Choosing the Right CAO Course and will take place in the Gleneagle Hotel Killarney on Wednesday next, April 27th, commencing at 7pm and will provide students with the knowledge to choose the right CAO course ahead of this year=92s points race.

CLOTHING COLLECTION

Scartaglin Childcare Centre’s fundraisin­g clothing collection is ongoing. It’s Spring clean time and an opportunit­y to get rid of unwanted or used clothing. The centre takes used men’s, women’s, and children’s clean clothing, paired shoes, handbags, belts, curtains and bed linen.
