SSE AIRTRICITY U-17 LEAGUE

Shamrock Rovers 3 Kerry 1

KERRY journeyed to Dublin on Saturday after an unbeaten 5 game run but their great sequence of results came to an end when they went down to Shamrock Rovers who have already qualified for the knock out stages of the competition.

When the sides met earlier in the season they played out a 1-1 draw at Mounthawk Park with Kerry denied a win by an injury time goal.

Kerry against were a good match for the Dubliners and ran they very close in their home patch at the Tallaght Stadium.

In a close opening 45 minutes where both sides created chances the sides went in scoreless at half time.

The home side hit a sucker punch four minutes into the second half with a well taken goal. Two more unanswered goals put the home side in the driving seat.

Kerry gave themselves a glimmer of hope when Dillon Robinson scored in the 83rd minute but that was as good as it got for Kerry with the home side winning comfortably enough at the end.

Local soccer fans have an opportunity to show their appreciation of this under 17 side next Sunday when they play their final home game of the season at Mounthawk Park against Bray Wanderers.

The kick off is at 2pm so come out and support the lads who have enjoyed a very satisfactory season.

Team manager Darren Aherne is asking every KDL club in the county to bring their entire squad to the game and give the team the send off they deserve.
