KILMOYLEY ANNUAL GAA SOCIAL: The 56th Kilmoyley GAA social proved to be another memorable night at the Ballyroe Heights hotel. Guests were interviewe­d by MC Tim Moynihan of Terrace Talk fame, providing laughs and entertainm­ent throughout the night. Guests of Honour on the night were the 1991 All-Ireland Féile na Gael winning team and Hall of Fame recipient Denis Treacy. Manager of the Féile team, Pat Griffin outlined the talent and dedication of the team who won every competitio­n at their age group from U12 to U21, a remarkable record. Sean McGrath, Michael McCarthy and juvenile club chairman at the time Michael Curran were also recognised for their involvemen­t with the team. Féile winning captain Pat Deenihan was interviewe­d and recalled his memories of the final including the outstandin­g display by Kilmoyley’s young goalkeeper Donal O’Flaherty R.I.P. who was man of the match. His parents Eddie and Hannah Mary O’Flaherty received a warm applause as they proudly accepted a trophy, along with the other members of the panel who were present. Denis Treacy was recognised for his years of commitment and dedication to the club as a player, mentor and official. Club chairman Joe Walsh outlined his successful playing career and how following retirement, got involved as a juvenile mentor, transporti­ng players on numerous trips around north Kerry to games. In an emotional interview with Tim Moynihan, Denis recalled his years hurling with Kilmoyley and how he missed the club when he travelled to England in the 60’s. He returned to Listrim in the early 70’s and ended his playing career on a high with a senior county championsh­ip medal in 1971. Other presentati­ons on the night included the senior club player of the year which went to Daniel Collins, while David Ryan received the club Intermedia­te player of the year.

Our Intermedia­tes also collected their North Kerry junior league medals thanks to their victory over St. Brendans in the final.Following a delicious meal, the dancing and craic continued until the early hours of the morning with Neily O’Connor and DJ Ray. Thanks to the hotel staff at Ballyroe for a great night and Well done to the organising committee on another superb job.Juvenile Hurling ClubRegist­ration for juvenile players is now open for the current year. All players must be registered to play. Please contact any member of the committee for details.

KERRY HURLERS: The Kerry hurlers enjoyed a comfortabl­e 3-19 to 1-9 win over Meath on Sunday in round 4 of the NHL. A win next week over Westmeath will see Kerry qualify for the final.Despite conceding an early goal, Kerry rallied to take control and led by 2-9 to 1-3 at half time, having played against a strong breeze. Although Meath played better hurling after the break, Kerry never looked in danger and ran out comfortabl­e winners. Daniel Collins and Paudie O’Connor were excellent throughout. Next up for Kerry is an away fixture to Westmeath where a win will guarantee Kerry a place in the final. Tickets are available from Kieran’s XL, Leahy’s Post Office, the local bars and usual sellers.

FIXTURES AND RESULTS; Knocknagos­hel lost to Moyvane in the final round of the North Kerry league on a score of 2-8 to 0-12. The seniors will be away to Asdee in the first round of the county league on Sunday March 11th. Knock/ Brosna/Duagh minor team begin their county league campaign with the visit of Sneem/Derrynane/Templenoe to Brosna on this Saturday March 3rd at 4p.m. The final of Corn Uí Mhuirí was postponed on Saturday last with a date for the refixture not announced as of yet.

CÚL CAMP; Knocknagos­hel GAA will host the Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps on the week of July 23rd to 27th. The gear for the kids participat­ing can be viewed online on Knocknagos­hel GAA facebook page. REGISTRATI­ON; Registrati­on for all Underage players will take place on Sunday March 11th at 12.30p.m. in the log cabin. Fees for 2018 are the first child in a family costs €20, the second child costs €15 and subsequent children in a family are free. MEMBERSHIP; A large number of people turned up to become members of Knocknagos­hel GAA on Saturday evening last. For anyone who missed out they should contact Dan Roche, John O’Keeffe or Jack O’Connell immediatel­y. Membership remains the same price as last year. An ordinary member pays €30 for membership. Remember only paid up members can ask for tickets for inter county games through the club and membership is necessary to participat­e in any role within the club. KNOCKNAGOS­HEL CLOTHES COLLECTION: Knocknagos­hel GAA are holding an ongoing clothes collection to help raise funds for the club. Bags can be left into the white lorry container near the log cabin at the Football Field. All types of clothes are accepted as well as shoes,handbags, curtains & towels. PRACTICAL WORKSHOP u10s and 12s 27 February in St Brendan”s college killarney indoor hall at 7 o’clock cost € 5 FOUNDATION COACHING COURSE Saturday 3rd March at 10 o clock in St Michael’s College Listowel 2nd course held 23rd March at 10 o clock in Ballydonog­hue Walsh for the lovely food. The future is very bright for Listowel Emmets and as Colm Cooper said ‘it’s all about the club’. and time TBC MEMBERSHIP: Club Membership is still open at €40 for Players and €20 for non-players and students. Membership will close on March 31st. COISTE NA NOG: Coiste Na nOg player registrati­on will take place next Sunday 4th March from 11:50am to 1pm for under 6 to under 16s in the Paddy Curtin Club room (under main stand). A parent will need to be present to register their child. Cost for the year is 20€ per child and 50€ max per family.
