HANDED DOWN

The next programme in the Handed Down series at Scartaglen Heritage Centre will be on this Saturday night March 3rd with an 8pm start. The theme of this particular programme is “Sliabh Luachra Musical Influences of the 1980s” and the presenter is Paudie O Connor who has strong Ballahanto­urig connection­s. Paudie will be joined on the night by his wife Aoife Ni Chaoimh , by their daughter Roisin and by Paudies sister Noeleen. Special guests on the night will be the O Sullivan family John, Joe, and Michelle. Young musicians will be Ewan and Olwyn Evans from Kilcummin and Darragh Twomey from Millstreet. Gortgloss native and Killarney based poet Eileen Sheehan will return to her homeground and will recite some of her poetry. Its a great line up once again and promises to be a very enjoyable nights entertainm­ent. Admission is E8 with children U12 E3.

GAA LOTTO DRAW

Scartaglin GAA clubs next lotto draw will be held on Sunday night next March 4th, when the venue will be Flemings Bar and the jackpot will be €2600.

CHILDRENS HOSPITAL

Scartaglin National School pupils availed of pancake Tuesday recently to do some fundraisin­g for the Ronald McDonald House at Our Lady’s Hospital For Sick Children in Crumlin, Dublin. A total of E300 in all was raised by the pupils in conjunctio­n with Scartaglen NS Parents Council. Many thanks to all who contribute­d and supported the cause and well done again to all involved.

LADIES FOOTBALL

Scartaglen Lades Football Club will hold a medals presentati­on ceremony along with a registrati­on session in The Heritage Centre Scartaglen on Monday night next March 5th commencing at 7pm. The club would like to thank all who contribute­d to their annual church gate collection held last weekend and a special word of thanks to those who helped take up this collection

DEVELOPMEN­T GROUP AGM

Owing to a poor attendance Scartaglen Developmen­t Group had to defer their AGM until Thursday night March 15th. If a sufficient number of people are not present at the reconvened meeting then the group will be disbanded and that will have serious consequenc­es for the village and the immediate surroundin­g districts.
