SENIOR SCOR FINALS

The cream of Kerry’s talent was very much on display at the Estuary Print and Trophies, Ballylongf­ord, Sponsored County Senior Scor Finals held in the Mhuire Gan Small, Primary School Castleisla­nd on Saturday evening last where another wonderful evening of entertainm­ent was thoroughly enjoyed by the good sized attendance who showed their appreciati­on of all Clubs. Bean a Ti was Suzanne No Laoire, Secretary of Coiste Scor Chiarrai who kept everything running smoothly.

There was a good spread of winners from the District Boards involved; from the Tralee/St. Brendans, Board there was success for both Austin Stacks in Set Dancing and Ballymacel­ligott in Ballad Group, East Kerry Board did likewise with Fossa in Instrument­al Music and Glenflesk in Figure Dancing. Not to be outdone Crotto O Neills from the North Kerry Hurling Board with Sonny Egan at the helm who went through in both Solo Singing and Recitation. The remaining discpline; Leiriu was won by Asdee from the North Kerry Football Board.

It was an extra special occasion at the end of the competitio­n for the Crotto O Neills Club when they were awarded the overall Club of the night which was presented to their Club Cultural Officer, Thomas Breen. Prior to the main event Churchill were successful in the Quiz by a one point margin after a ding dong struggle over last years All Ireland finalists Rathmore and due to a change in this catagory the County final winners will go directly through to the All Ireland final.

All those winners who were presented with their medals by Christy Kileen, Oifigeach Cultura Chiarrai go through to the Munster Finals which will be staged in the Community Centre, Cappamore, County Limerick on Saturday March 10th commencing at 6pm.

TARBERT ROAD RUN

Tarbert will host a set of 3 road races on 29 April. Races will start and finish at Tarbert Comprehens­ive School. Event A; 10 mile run (over 18s) Event B; 10 km run (over 16s) Event C; 5 km run or walk(no age limit). There are entry fees and trophies for the winners. To-date there are over 150 registered participan­ts and you can register on tarbert. ie/tarbert-run/

PARENT/TODDLER GROUP

The Parent and Toddler group are urgently seeking new members. They meet at the Community Centre every Friday morning from 10am to 12noon. Fáilte roimh gach éinne.

PARISH MISSION

The most important item up for discussion at the recent meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council was the decision to hold a parish mission in Tarbert. The Mission will open on Monday May 21 and close on Saturday May 26. There will be a 7.30pm Mass each evening followed by a Talk. In this the designated Year of the Family, Fr.Pádraig suggested that the theme of the Mission should be the family and issues concerning the family, such as relationsh­ips, parenting, addiction, despair and healing, etc. Speakers with a specialist knowledge on these and related topics would be sourced for the evening talks. If you have any ideas you wish to discuss regarding the proposed parish mission or any other topic feel free to discuss with any of the Council members listed below. There will be further discussion at the next meeting fixed for Wednesday March 14.
