O’Shea appointed minor captain
PAUL O’Shea of Kilcummin was confirmed as the 2018 Kerry Minor Captain on Monday evening, the last one that the County Minor Champions (in this case East Kerry) will have input into. This follows recent changes agreed in giving team management control over the selection from 2019 onwards.
O‘Shea is the second Kilcummin captain of the Kerry Minors this decade after Gary O’Leary in 2011 and a third since Paul McCarthy captained the 1997 Kerry Minors to a Munster title. O’Shea is also is a first cousin of his immediate predecessor as Kerry Minor Captain, David Clifford. Should Kerry prevail tonight they could face Cork in a Munster Minor Semi-Final next month at home provided the Rebels defeat Waterford in their opening game. Clare host Limerick in tonight’s other opening Munster Minor quarter-final.
